Medway Power Station, on the Isle of Grain in Kent, is a 735 MW combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant that began operating in 1995. Originally developed by a joint venture between AES Corporation, SEEBOARD, and Southern Electric, it was later acquired by Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) for £242 million. The facility was built by Marubeni, Tarmac, and Black & Veatch, and sits beside the River Medway, about 44 miles east of London.

Occupying an 11-acre site, the station includes three enclosed turbines and two 65-metre stacks designed to limit NOx emissions and noise levels. Cooling water is drawn from the Medway, with discharge carefully monitored to meet environmental standards.

The plant runs on natural gas, using two GE Frame 9 turbines whose exhaust gases feed Nooter Eriksen heat recovery steam generators, driving a GE steam turbine. This efficient configuration enables reliable, flexible electricity generation for the southeast of England.
