East Anglia One Offshore Wind Farm
The East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm is situated in the North Sea off the east coast of East Anglia, England, around 43 km from shore. Developed by ScottishPower Renewables (60 %) and Bilbao Offshore Holding Limited (40 %), it received planning consent in June 2014 and was completed in July 2020 with an installed capacity of 714 MW.
Construction on East Anglia ONE began onshore in 2017 and offshore in 2018, involving 102 direct-drive Siemens 7 MW turbines mounted on jacketed foundations suited to water depths of 30–40 m. The project cost approximately £2.5 billion, and a strike price of £119 / MWh was awarded in April 2016 under the UK’s Contract for Difference regime.
East Anglia ONE is the first phase of the larger East Anglia Array zone — which includes subsequent projects such as East Anglia TWO, East Anglia THREE and East Anglia ONE North. Together these are planned to deliver up to 7.2 GW of offshore wind capacity in the zone, with East Anglia TWO and THREE already granted consent.
