Tees Renewable Energy Plant
Tees Renewable Energy Plant is a biomass fuelled power station situated on the River Tees at Teesport in Redcar and Cleveland, North East England. The plant operates alongside other renewable energy units and industrial processes operating in the Northeast of England Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC)
Tees REP is the world’s largest new-build pellet biomass power plant and has a capacity to generate 299 MW of energy, enough to power 600,000 homes, equivalent to nearly all households in the Teesside area. It plays a critical role in bolstering energy security on both a regional and national level by ensuring a reliable baseload power supply, which other intermittent renewables like solar and wind cannot guarantee.
